Welcome to the Saswick House Farm Shop
There may be no shortage of farm shops or tea rooms around Lancashire but few come loaded with more than 60 years of experience behind them.
That’s the amount of time Ian and Linda Daniel have served in the retail food industry and now they’ve put all their knowledge and expertise into a thriving family business that turns a trip to their Saswick House Farm Shop and Tea Rooms – in the postcard-pretty village of Roseacre, between Blackpool and Preston – into an experience.
The one-time working farm has undergone a dramatic transformation. Buildings that once housed animals have been lovingly turned into a traditional farm shop, while the tea rooms are housed in the stable block that was home to Saswick House Farm’s working horses.
In particular, the Daniel’s place special emphasis on the importance of local produce and the ‘green’ need to keep the distance travelled – from field to table – to an absolute minimum.
The shop sells locally sourced meat, dairy products and vegetables, while the café concentrates on home-made food, again with a strong emphasis on local provenance.
“This is an industry we are experienced in,” they say. “We have always valued the importance of the journey our produce has taken and this is something core to our new venture. The emphasis is on locally-sourced, quality produce. We have secured local suppliers and we are very excited about this element of the business.”
Both parts of their business have been developed sympathetically with the building’s original features and purpose in mind, creating an authentic and cosy environment overlooking the gardens.
They are open Thursday to Saturday from 9-5.30, with last food orders in the tearooms at 4.30, and from 9-4 on Sundays. They also open on Bank Holidays.
On Monday to Wednesday they welcome private functions and meetings. Outside catering for events and hog roasts are also available on request.
